PTA Sets Technical Standards for 5G Equipment

PINSTECH and OGDC have signed a contract for analytical services supporting OGDC’s lithium extraction initiative and mineral sector activities.
The Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH) and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC) have signed a contract to strengthen institutional cooperation, including analytical support for OGDC’s lithium extraction initiative.
The agreement was signed at OGDC Headquarters on Tuesday, bringing together the scientific and technical capabilities of both organisations to support work related to Pakistan’s mineral and energy sectors.
Established in 1965, PINSTECH is a research and development institute of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC). Under the agreement, the institute will provide OGDC with elemental profiling and radioactive-element analysis services.
The contract signing was witnessed by Dr. Shakeel Abbas Rofi, Member (Science), PAEC, and Ahmed Hayat Lak, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of OGDC.
Dr. Qamar-ul-Haque, Director General of PINSTECH, and Ejaz Abbas Rizvi, General Manager, Supply Chain Management Department at OGDC, signed the contract on behalf of their respective organisations.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Rofi and Lak expressed confidence that the agreement would strengthen cooperation between the two institutions by combining their scientific and technical capabilities in support of national objectives.
During the event, Munib Ahmed Shafique, Head of the Spectrometry Group at PINSTECH, presented an overview of the institute’s capabilities in elemental analysis.
Shagufta Shafique, Joint Engineer (Production) at OGDC, also presented the company’s scope of work and diversification plans, including its lithium extraction initiative being undertaken in collaboration with PINSTECH.
The cooperation will allow PINSTECH’s analytical expertise to be combined with OGDC’s experience in the energy sector as the companies explore emerging opportunities linked to Pakistan’s mineral and energy resources.
The lithium initiative forms part of OGDC’s broader diversification activities. Through analytical services such as elemental profiling and radioactive-element analysis, the two organisations will support the assessment and development of indigenous mineral resources.
The agreement reflects growing institutional cooperation around Pakistan’s mineral potential, while also linking scientific research capabilities with commercial and resource-development activities.
The initiative is expected to contribute to the exploration of indigenous resources and support broader objectives related to Pakistan’s mineral and energy sectors.
