In a daring bid to enhance Pakistan’s international tech presence, Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Khawaja announced the government’s ambitious target to increase IT exports to $15 billion by 2029. While delivering a speech at the Pakistan Pavilion during GITEX AFRICA 2024 in Morocco, she highlighted the nation’s determination toward building capacity, digital skills, and policy reforms to drive this growth.
Standing at $3 billion now, the IT export target is five times more. Shaza pointed to the country’s young talented individuals, freelancers, and women-led startups as major force drivers of this digital drive. She also recognized the important role of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) and ignite in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship.
Pakistan’s tech industry, represented by firms such as Systems Limited, 10Pearls, and LMKT, took pride in being the face of the country on the international level, presenting its services to the world. The minister emphasized that it was crucial to cultivate strategic collaborations in Africa and beyond and viewed the continent as a future market for Pakistani IT services.
Through strategic reforms, capacity building, and international cooperation, Pakistan is not only targeting figures—but a sustainable, equitable digital revolution.
