Fifteen leading Pakistani companies will participate on Thursday in Leathertech Bangladesh, a prominent regional exhibition in Dhaka that brings together manufacturers, exporters, buyers, and suppliers from across the leather value chain, according to the Pakistan High Commission.
The three-day event, running from December 4 to 6 at the International Convention City Bashundhara, focuses on leather goods, footwear, tanning chemicals, and industrial machinery. Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maroof, is scheduled to inaugurate the Pakistan Pavilion at the exhibition.
Officials say Pakistan’s presence is aimed at strengthening commercial links with Bangladesh at a time when both countries are exploring ways to expand trade and economic cooperation after years of limited engagement. Bangladesh has emerged as a major regional player in the leather export market, making the exhibition a strategic platform for business outreach.
The participation follows a recent uptick in diplomatic and economic contacts between Islamabad and Dhaka, including senior-level visits and discussions on trade facilitation, shipping routes, and business visas. Both sides have indicated that trade-led engagements offer a practical route to rebuilding trust and enhancing cooperation.
As Bangladesh’s new leadership signals openness to recalibrating foreign ties, analysts view commercial platforms such as Leathertech as early but meaningful steps toward renewed Pakistan-Bangladesh engagement.
