Pakistan and the European Union are set to take a major step in strengthening economic cooperation with the first high-level EU-Pakistan Business Forum, scheduled for May 14-15 in Islamabad. This initiative, announced in a joint statement by the government and the EU delegation, will bring together key policymakers, including the prime minister and finance and commerce ministers, along with business leaders, investors, and financial institutions like the European Investment Bank.
The discussions will focus on key industries such as agribusiness, energy, green logistics, pharmaceuticals, IT, and textiles. The event will also introduce the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, which aims to mobilize EUR 300 billion in investments worldwide by 2027.
EU Ambassador Dr. Riina Kionka has highlighted the increasing interest of European businesses in Pakistan, noting that this forum will open doors for deeper trade relations and new economic opportunities. Additionally, the EU-Pakistan Business Network will be launched, connecting over 300 European firms already operating in the country.
By addressing regulatory frameworks, trade facilitation, and sustainable business practices, this forum marks an important step toward stronger economic ties between Pakistan and the EU.
