In today’s technology-driven world, while AI offers numerous benefits, it also presents significant challenges. Minister of State for IT and Telecom, Shaza Khawaja, highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to transparency and accountability in digital platforms at the Leap 2025 conference in Riyadh. She emphasized the transformative impact of AI, advocating for global collaboration on responsible AI governance to ensure benefits for all segments of society.
Khawaja stressed the importance of data privacy, security, and fairness in AI systems and called for bridging the digital divide in developing nations through inclusive policies and capacity-building initiatives. She urged for sustainable AI development to minimize its carbon footprint and reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to ethical and innovative AI deployment.
Moreover, Khawaja introduced “The Digital Nation Pakistan Bill, 2024,” aimed at creating a digital identity for citizens and centralizing social, economic, and governance data. This bill seeks to transform Pakistan into a digital society, enhancing public services, driving economic growth, and building a sustainable digital ecosystem.
