Pakistan is again making waves on the global technology map. In the BeiDou Summit held in Hunan, Planning Minister Prof. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary once again emphasized Pakistan’s place as the first foreign country to implement the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS), underlining how this collaboration is shaping the future of the nation.
On the sidelines of the summit, Prof. Iqbal met China’s Vice Premier Li Qiang to promote collaboration in innovation and technology. In his keynote address, he pointed out that BeiDou is not merely a navigation system, it is driving economic growth, jobs, and cross-country partnerships, transforming showpiece industries like aviation, agriculture, logistics, disaster relief, and e-commerce.
The Minister released a Six-Point Agenda to maximize the returns of BDS in Pakistan, including integration across the country with Pak-SBAS and Pak-GBAS, establishing public-private partnerships, and empowering the next generation of scientists through studies and training.
Prof. Iqbal declared that CPEC has transformed into a technology Corridor linked to space innovation, emphasizing that BeiDou is the focal point of Pakistan’s journey towards becoming a knowledge based economy. At the heart of this vision is the empowerment of the youth of Pakistan, equipping them with the skills to lead the nation into a new age of technology.
