National Grid Company will roll out a new operating model from July 2026 to improve efficiency, transparency and reliability in Pakistan’s power transmission system.
National Grid Company of Pakistan Limited (NGC) is set to launch a new operating model from July 1, 2026, as part of a broader transformation aimed at modernising Pakistan’s power transmission system.
The development was shared during a briefing with Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, who endorsed the initiative as a critical step toward improving efficiency, transparency and reliability across the national grid.
The restructuring is being led by Managing Director Engr Altaf Hussain Malik, with the goal of building a more agile and accountable organisation aligned with global best practices. The overhaul addresses long-standing inefficiencies inherited from the legacy structure of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company.
Under the new model, NGC will introduce unified operations leadership, enhanced financial management, dedicated regulatory teams and independent safety oversight. The plan also includes deploying modern digital systems for real-time monitoring and improved grid performance.
Since the transformation began earlier this year, key leadership roles have been filled and performance systems introduced. While the new structure will go live in July, full operational and digital maturity is expected by December 2026.
