Mobilink Bank (MMBL) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote access to finance and capacity building for small businesses across Pakistan.
Under the agreement, both institutions will extend government financial schemes and business development services to micro and small enterprises, especially in rural and underserved areas.
MMBL President and CEO Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary said the collaboration marks a new chapter in empowering small entrepreneurs and boosting Pakistan’s economy. “We’re focused on reaching business owners that traditional banks overlook,” he said, noting that microfinance banks now serve nearly 10 million borrowers nationwide.
The partnership will integrate policy frameworks, credit facilities, and training programs to help small businesses grow sustainably. SMEDA has previously partnered with the Pakistan Microfinance Network and Akhuwat, forming a strong alliance to strengthen the SME sector’s contribution to Pakistan’s GDP.
