GuoDong Group Eyes Investment in Pakistan’s Smart Tech Sectors

GuoDong Group, in a major strategic move that signals a strengthening of Sino-Pak ties in the realms of economic cooperation, a major Chinese industrial conglomerate is evaluating on exploring significant investments in Pakistan’s ICT and smart energy sectors.  Mr. Lu Jie, Founder & Chairman of GuoDong Group, met Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Shaza Khawaja, during the Global AI Conference in Shanghai to explore investments in telecom towers, data centres, cloud computing, EV charging stations, and smart city infrastructure. These investments align closely with Pakistan’s twin goals of digital transformation and sustainable urban development, offering a much-needed boost to green infrastructure and connectivity. Minister Khawaja welcomed the proposals, emphasizing Pakistan’s openness to foreign direct investment in frontier technologies. She extended a formal invitation to the Group to visit Pakistan and assured full support from the government to operationalize the vision.
