Foodpanda and PRA join forces to expand tax compliance in Punjab’s digital food sector, aiming to boost transparency, revenue, and awareness.
A delegation from Foodpanda Pakistan met with Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, Chairperson of the Punjab Revenue Authority, to discuss strengthening tax compliance in Punjab’s digital food service sector.
Officials said the meeting focused on integrating online platforms and related businesses into the provincial tax framework. The Foodpanda team expressed willingness to support documentation of the digital economy and promote awareness of tax obligations among service providers.
Participants highlighted the role of technology in curbing tax evasion, improving transparency, and enhancing consumer convenience while increasing revenue collection.
Sipra emphasized that expanding digital services and encouraging a cashless economy remain government priorities. “Collaboration with food delivery platforms will help bring unregistered service providers into the tax net,” he stated. He further stressed that licences from the Punjab Food Authority would require prior PRA registration, reinforcing documentation standards.
Calling tax compliance a national duty, Sipra added that awareness campaigns in educational institutions would be launched to promote responsible tax practices among youth.
