Easypaisa Wins License as Pakistan’s first Digital Bank

In a groundbreaking achievement, easypaisa Bank Limited has become Pakistan’s first digital retail bank to receive full commercial approval from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). This milestone, announced on January 28, 2025, marks a new era in the country’s financial sector. Telenor Microfinance Bank, now rebranded as “Easypaisa Digital Bank Limited,” will offer a wide range of digital banking services, making financial solutions more accessible to millions.

Easypaisa’s journey from a branchless mobile money service to a full-fledged #digital bank is nothing short of inspiring. With 50 million registered users, including a strong 31% women user base, and transactions worth PKR 9.5 trillion in 2024 alone, Easypaisa has already transformed how Pakistanis handle money. Now, it’s taking things further by introducing #innovative services like digital term deposits, lending options, and wealth management tools, all available at the tap of a screen.
