China and Pakistan have strengthened their agricultural collaboration by forming the China-Pakistan Agricultural Technology Working Group, a significant step under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor – CPEC.

The fourth meeting of the China-Pakistan Joint Working Group on Agriculture, held earlier this week in Beijing, reviewed the progress of the first batch of agricultural projects and approved a second batch. Senior officials from China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Pakistan’s Ministry of National Food Security and Research, Government of Pakistan co-chaired the session.

Key agreements reached in the meeting include the establishment of joint laboratories and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on tropical agriculture cooperation. The two nations also discussed enhancing partnerships in fisheries, agricultural mechanization, and related fields. These initiatives aim to modernize Pakistan’s agricultural sector, improve productivity, and strengthen bilateral trade in agri-tech innovations.

Experts believe that deepening agricultural ties between China and Pakistan will boost food security and sustainable farming practices, ensuring long-term economic benefits for both nations. The move aligns with CPEC’s broader vision of fostering regional economic growth and technological advancement in critical sectors.
