Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized strengthening collaboration with the UN on sustainable development and climate change. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to climate action and praised the UN’s efforts in the country. In a meeting with UN Resident Coordinator Mohamed Yahya, he conveyed appreciation for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ support during the 2022 floods. He also stressed the importance of climate financing and urged developed nations to fulfill their commitments.
Moreover, prime minister stressed the need to close the financing gap for SDGs and advocated for greater representation of developing nations in global financial institutions through reforms.
