Mobilink Bank and JazzCash have launched a cashless bazaar in Chaklala Scheme-III, Rawalpindi, covering over 900 shops and carts to promote digital payments.
The initiative supports Pakistan’s push toward a cashless economy under the vision led by the State Bank of Pakistan. It introduces Raast-enabled QR codes, allowing merchants to accept instant, secure payments directly through mobile wallets, reducing reliance on physical cash.
The launch event was attended by senior officials, including representatives from the State Bank of Pakistan and leadership from both organizations. As part of the initiative, Mobilink Bank will onboard retailers with Business Plus accounts and offer additional services such as SME financing, insurance and solar and EV solutions.
According to Haaris M. Chaudhary, the initiative aims to digitize everyday commerce and bring small merchants into a more inclusive financial system. Murtaza Ali added that digitising high-frequency transactions in bazaars is key to scaling financial inclusion.
The project serves as a scalable model for expanding digital financial infrastructure across Pakistan’s local markets.
