Mari Energies Limited has reported a gas discovery at the Tibri-1 exploratory well in the Kalchas South Block, located in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan, according to a filing submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange – PSX.
Tibri-1 is the first exploratory well in the block. Drilling began on November 11, 2025, and reached a depth of 7,170 feet. The block is operated by @United Energy Pakistan Limited, which holds a 46 percent working interest. Mari Energies owns 44 percent, while Dewan Petroleum (Pvt.) Limited holds the remaining 10 percent.
Initial tests in the Dunghan/Sui Main Limestone formation showed a gas flow of 11 million standard cubic feet per day at a 64/64-inch choke with a wellhead flowing pressure of 561 psig. At a smaller 32/64-inch choke, the well flowed 6.5 MMSCFD with a pressure of 1,161 psig. Further testing is under way to determine the well’s commercial potential.
Mari Energies said exploration in the area had been halted for years due to security concerns. Operations resumed after the joint venture acquired working interest from Dewan Petroleum in July 2023, leading to the Tibri-1 discovery.
