US tech company Meta is exploring collaboration with Pakistan in artificial intelligence, digital trade, and e-commerce as part of the government’s ongoing digital transformation agenda.
A Meta delegation led by Rafael Frankel, PhD, Director for Public Policy (South Asia), met with Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan to discuss expanding cooperation in AI innovation, digital skills, and SME empowerment.
Minister Khan welcomed Meta’s growing engagement, highlighting that Pakistan’s IT and e-commerce exports have shown strong growth, reaching $3.8 billion in FY2025 and $1.06 billion in the first quarter of FY2026. He also shared plans for the upcoming National E-Commerce Policy 2.0, aimed at expanding the market to $20 billion by 2030.
Frankel praised Pakistan’s rapid digital progress and expressed Meta’s interest in AI skilling programs, responsible digital marketing, and online safety. Both sides agreed to explore a Meta–Pakistan E-Commerce Accelerator Pilot and to continue joint efforts to support entrepreneurs, youth, and small businesses through technology partnerships.
