Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has ordered that all Motorways be made barrier free according to international standards and the E-Tag system should be further enhanced.

Chairing a top-level meeting at the NHA Headquarters, he made the announcement that in the initial phase, an AI-powered computerized monitoring system will be established on the M-1 and M-2 Motorways, with the aim to extend it to all highways. The system will issue automated alerts to owners of vehicles about traffic offenses such as over-speeding, ensuring both safety and compliance.

Abdul Aleem Khan stressed that the Motorway Police officers must not stop speeding vehicles manually but instead prioritize their own safety and the safety of commuters, since such actions are risky and life-threatening. He also instructed that the policy of open auction of toll plazas should be extended to other contracts, and uniform commercial policies, 100% digitization of revenues, and feedback from the people should be introduced to enhance road operations on highways.

The minister also directed the NHA to charge reasonable NOC for commercial land, classifying it by city and business type. He underlined the value of Motorway tree plantation with an invitation to the private sector to contribute to planting, development, and maintenance to ensure environmental sustainability.

During the session, Abdul Aleem Khan was updated on operational affairs by the NHA Chairman and high officials and inspected ongoing developments at various departments.
