The Ignite – National Technology Fund board has recently approved the launch of DigiSkills.pk 3.0, marking an important upgrade to its flagship online training initiative. This decision was led by Secretary IT Zarrar Khan, who chairs the board. DigiSkills 3.0 aims to offer free digital skills training to three million individuals over the next three and a half years. Building on the success of DigiSkills 2.0, which featured 15 courses, the new version expands to 25 courses focused on enhancing freelancing and digital literacy across Pakistan.
A budget of Rs. 1.79 billion has been set aside for this phase. Notable additions include courses in UI/UX and Web Flow, 3D Modeling, Cloud Computing, Shopify Development, Artificial Intelligence using Python, Mobile Game and App Development, and Full Stack Development with MERN. Courses on Startup Strategies and Entrepreneurship have also been introduced to support aspiring business owners.
Since its inception in 2018, the DigiSkills program has trained over four million people from 300 cities, with a strong emphasis on women’s empowerment. Over 800,000 female participants have benefited from the program, contributing to gender inclusion in Pakistan’s freelancing and IT sectors. The program continues to operate in collaboration with Virtual University through it’s platform.
