The Ministry of IT and Telecom Pakistan (MoITT), using Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), has set up 43 Software Technology Parks (STPs) nationwide, providing IT firms with support. Right now, over 350 companies operate in these hubs, employing 18,000 professionals across 1.9 million square feet, where women make up 20% of the workforce.
Built between FY2022-24, these STPs aren’t just in the big three (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi); they’ve also popped up in Faisalabad, Quetta, Sialkot, Swat, and more. Together, they rake in $100 million in foreign exchange annually while adding $15 million to the local economy.
The government has got two additional massive IT parks on the way. Karachi’s $186 million facility, 1.12 million square feet, will launch by 2027, creating 13,400 jobs and boosting exports by $90 million. Meanwhile, Islamabad’s 720,000-square-foot park is set for 2025, bringing 7,500 jobs and $70 million in exports.
To top it off, 250 e-Rozgaar centers are planned by 2027 to fuel Pakistan digitally, supercharge the tech industry and cement Pakistan’s place in the global digital economy.
