The relationship between Pakistan and China is one of the strongest bilateral ties in international diplomacy, built on strategic, economic, military, and diplomatic cooperation. They signed a boundary agreement to resolve border disputes, with China providing military support during the 1965 and 1971 wars with India. Recently, Presidents Asif Ali Zardari and Xi Jinping signed a comprehensive pact to further strengthen their partnership. This includes agreements on infrastructure development, such as advanced road and railway tracks, Gwadar port development, addressing energy crises, and fostering economic and industrial growth through economic zones.

Both leaders emphasized people-to-people interactions and cultural exchanges, agreeing to enhance cooperation in education, media, think tanks, and youth exchanges. They also reviewed the positive growth in bilateral ties, discussed regional and international issues, and explored further expansion of their partnership through high-level exchanges.

President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to its All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China and praised China’s development under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), highlighting the China Pakistan Economic Corridor – CPEC as a model of win-win cooperation.

The meeting concluded with the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in science & technology, media, clean energy, and socio-economic development, further cementing the strong friendship between the two nations.
