Why NADRA’s Website Is Shutting Down Tomorrow

NADRA, The National Database and Registration Authority, has announced a significant overhaul, retiring its website and transitioning all services to its mobile application. The Pak-ID portal will officially cease operations on January 17, marking a digital shift aimed at enhancing user experience and security.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed that the decision stemmed from the misuse of fraudulent websites aiding in the creation of fake identity documents and exploiting citizens’ private data. The now-obsolete website also posed usability challenges, particularly for overseas citizens, who often struggled with tasks like uploading biometric scans and required paperwork.

To counter these issues, NADRA has fortified its mobile app, which now offers streamlined services, including identity cards, NICOP, POC, B-Forms, and family registration certificates. This mobile solution allows citizens to complete identity-related processes conveniently from their devices, eliminating the need for cumbersome procedures.

In addition, three new regional centers will open in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gwadar, and Gilgit-Baltistan by March 31 to address service gaps in remote areas. These centers, alongside the rapid establishment of offices in 19 remaining tehsils nationwide, underscore NADRA’s commitment to accessibility, faster complaint resolution, and efficient    service delivery for all citizens.
