PM Eyes Chinese Healthcare Model

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to ensure that Islamabad’s under-construction healthcare projects, including the Jinnah Medical Complex, adopt a simple, durable, and modern design modeled after China’s advanced hospitals.

The premier’s inspiration comes from his recent visit to Beijing’s Anzhen Hospital, where he observed world-class healthcare delivery powered by robots, digital health systems, and cutting-edge medical equipment. He praised the hospital’s efficiency and patient-centered services, stressing that such innovations must guide Pakistan’s own healthcare reforms.

Shehbaz emphasized the need for intelligent management systems, green buildings, and high-tech facilities in Pakistan’s future hospitals to provide affordable and reliable treatment. He described the Chinese medical model as a benchmark for transforming healthcare into a service that is both technologically advanced and accessible for all citizens.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Federal Ministers Mohsin Naqvi, Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhary, Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Attaullah Tarar accompanied him on the visit, underscoring their shared commitment to healthcare modernization. The government aims to make upcoming medical complexes among the best in the region, enabling Pakistan to deliver affordable, advanced healthcare comparable to international standards.
