At a community event in Boston, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh addressed more than 40 AI and IT professionals, entrepreneurs and executives from Silicon Valley and Boston-based firms. He said the Pakistani tech diaspora could help transform Pak US ties into a durable economic partnership supported by investment in technology sectors. He added that Pakistan’s shift toward geo-economics and its young English-speaking population positioned the country to benefit from AI, freelancing and digital innovation.
Participants discussed collaboration opportunities, including AI skill development for Pakistan’s youth, regulatory frameworks for virtual assets and expanding the freelancing ecosystem, where Pakistan ranks third globally. The discussion ended with an agreement to create working groups on AI education exchanges and investment facilitation, with support from the Pakistani Embassy.
During a separate visit to Connecticut, Ambassador Sheikh met Chris DiPentima, CEO of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA). The meeting was attended by Consul General Aamir Ahmed Atozai and businessman Zaheer Sharaf. Talks focused on more than 80 US companies operating in Pakistan and investment potential in AI, minerals, rare earth metals, energy, the digital economy, aviation and pharmaceuticals. Officials highlighted Pakistan’s young workforce, cost competitiveness, sovereign rating upgrades, Special Economic Zones Authority and the Special Investment Facilitation Council as key strengths for investors.
