Pakistan is looking to step into space, literally, as the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Comission (SUPARCO) announces that its first-ever astronaut will be heading to China’s Tiangong space station by the end of 2026 and local talent has the opportunity to put their ideas on board too.
They’re calling on scientists, researchers, and students to pitch experiment ideas for the mission, think agriculture, medicine, physics, or anything viable within a week in microgravity. The station zips around Earth every 92 minutes at 7.7 km/s, packed with high-tech gear for cutting-edge research.
To be considered, proposals have to be original, lightweight, affordable, and make sense in zero-G. Alignment with sustainability goals or real-world potential, such as patents or commercial use is heavily encouraged. Deadline for submissions is April 30 2025.
The opportunity could not only boost Pakistan’s position in space but also spark real scientific breakthroughs.
