Pakistan and Austria have agreed to elevate bilateral cooperation across economic, cultural and strategic domains, with a strong focus on trade, investment and technology-led growth. The understanding emerged during high-level engagements led by Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Christian Stocker at the CEOs Forum and the Pakistan, Austria Business Forum.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited Austrian firms to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s renewable energy, mining, engineering, agriculture and infrastructure sectors, while also encouraging participation in the upcoming EU–Pakistan Business Forum in Islamabad. He underscored that Pakistan has improved its investment climate and achieved greater macroeconomic stability, positioning itself as open for business.
The prime minister emphasized collaboration in emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, digital technologies, vocational training and skilled labor mobility, proposing structured and legal pathways for Pakistani professionals to access European job markets. He also highlighted Pakistan’s tourism potential and the country’s young, tech-enabled workforce.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar noted that economic diplomacy is central to Pakistan’s foreign policy, while Austrian business leaders expressed interest in hydropower, rail infrastructure and digital transformation. Both sides expressed confidence that sustained private-sector engagement would translate goodwill into long-term economic gains.
