The new grid station has a transformation capacity of 3,000 MVA at the 500 by 220 kilovolt level and 750 MVA at the 220 by 132 kilovolt level. It is supported by 113 kilometres of 500kV transmission lines and 45 kilometres of 220kV lines, connecting multiple grid stations to form an integrated transmission network.
National Grid Company said the facility will help meet growing electricity needs from domestic, commercial, industrial and agricultural consumers while easing pressure on existing substations in Lahore, Gujranwala and nearby regions. The grid station will also support power evacuation from major generation sources, including coal based plants developed under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor – CPEC
The project is expected to improve voltage stability and reduce transmission losses, contributing to a more reliable power supply. Managing Director Engr. Altaf Hussain Malik acknowledged the efforts of engineers and project teams involved in completing the facility under the supervision of senior management in the northern region.
