The Ministry of IT and Telecom Pakistan (MoITT) collaborated with Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), as part of its Technology for People Initiative (TPI-LUMS), to promote digital governance and innovation across the nation.
The MoU provides the foundation for collaboration in areas including cybersecurity, policy innovation, digital service delivery, research, product development, and capacity building specifically in areas of digital skills and gender equity.
Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, Shaza Khawaja, who signed the MoU, has said that this collaboration will be able to secure public digital infrastructure, drive innovation, and deliver citizen-centric solutions. She emphasized that strong academia-government ties are necessary to develop a future proof, inclusive digital Pakistan.
LUMS Vice Chancellor Dr. Ali Cheema conveyed the university’s desire to support the government in using technology for governance and development, while TPI Director Usman Khan highlighted the way LUMS’ multidisciplinary research strength will create significant, applied solutions.
The partnership will bring public services in Pakistan within reach, efficient, and transparent for everyone.
