Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, has launched a standalone app for its Meta AI assistant. This move is seen as part of Meta’s broader effort to expand the assistant’s reach beyond its existing presence on WhatsApp , Instagram , Facebook, and Messenger. By introducing a separate app, Meta aims to encourage more frequent and direct engagement with the AI tool.
The new app is designed to deliver more personalized responses, using context and data drawn from users’ Facebook and Instagram accounts. It is powered by Llama 4, Meta’s latest large language model, which competes with top-tier models from OpenAI , Google , DeepSeek AI , and Anthropic . Llama 4 offers improved reasoning, multilingual capabilities, and greater efficiency.
The app will also integrate with Meta’s AI-powered glasses and merge with the current companion app. The announcement coincided with Meta’s first AI developer conference, LlamaCon, which highlights the company’s growing focus on artificial intelligence.
Additionally, Meta plans to begin testing a paid subscription for the chatbot’s advanced features in the second quarter. However, any significant revenue from this service is not expected until next year.
