Since signing an agreement last year to train 300,000 people to global standards Huawei has trained over 20,000 young Pakistanis in advanced ICT skills including AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Huawei’s delegation in Lahore reviewing the progress. Exactly 20,315 students trained so far, with those excelling passing their knowledge down locally. Pakistan now sees ICT as essential for its economy, hoping to attract foreign investment while building a skilled workforce.
In line with this goal, Pakistan’s IT ministry and Huawei launched an online training portal in January, making tech education more accessible, which Sharif wants expanded across all provinces, including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, hoping to speed things along.
