Following the vision of the Government, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MOITT) is all set to launch the Digital Pakistan Policy (DPP) 2021. The policy document may be launched as soon as August 2021. The DPP 2021 has been formulated through a comprehensive consultative process from all four provinces and the two regions (Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir).
As per sources and the brief in Business Recorder, Member Information Technology (IT) of the Ministry Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Junaid Imam said the policy was a start to the digital era for Pakistan and would provide the necessary elements to tab the digital global market. Digitization is not only about business, it is also for providing services to marginalized groups. The overall objective of the DPP 2021 was economic growth and citizen empowerment, he added.
Digital transformation can help in creating a future that is equal, where women and girls along with marginalized communities will be able to access better opportunities and live without the menace of poverty. Barkan Saeed, Chairman PASHA, said the digital policy should specify actionable initiatives.
Recently, Honorable President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi in a briefing also stressed the need for taking proactive measures to develop the Information Technology (IT) sector that could enormously contribute to the country’s economic and scientific development.
