Nokia has announced that CYBERNET, one of Pakistan’s leading fiber broadband providers, is deploying its advanced optical transport solution to build a new long-haul Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) network. This next-generation infrastructure, capable of delivering 1.2 terabits per second per wavelength, will serve as Cybernet’s national backbone. In its first phase, the network will connect over 25 cities and offer more than 50 Tbps of long-haul capacity.
The deployment will support a wide range of services, including data center interconnect, enterprise and carrier networks, and StormFiber—Cybernet’s flagship consumer broadband offering. To meet increasing data demands, Cybernet is adopting Nokia’s 1830 GX platform with integrated 1.2T ICE7 coherent optics. This will help build a resilient, low-latency backbone that spans the country.
The new network will also enable cross-border transit services to Central Asia, offering scalable, high-speed connectivity at competitive rates. This move supports Pakistan’s broader digital transformation and regional connectivity goals.
Cybernet’s leadership emphasized the importance of upgrading to cutting-edge technology to meet evolving user needs, while Nokia reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the country’s modernization efforts through this strategic partnership.
