BankIslami has launched FOCUS, an AI-powered credit underwriting platform designed to automate financing processes, improve efficiency, and accelerate customer onboarding.
BankIslami has launched its fully in-house developed Finance Origination and Credit Underwriting System (FOCUS), introducing an AI-powered platform designed to transform and accelerate the customer financing journey through digital automation.
The launch marks a significant milestone in the bank’s ongoing digital transformation strategy and reflects the growing adoption of artificial intelligence across Pakistan’s banking sector.
The new platform digitises the entire financing process, from application initiation to final disbursement, replacing traditional manual workflows with a standardised, automated, and data-driven framework.
According to BankIslami, FOCUS has been deployed across its branch network to improve operational efficiency, enhance customer experience, and strengthen the quality and consistency of credit decisions.
By leveraging AI-driven underwriting capabilities, the platform significantly reduces turnaround times while enabling faster and more informed financing decisions. The initiative aligns with broader industry trends where financial institutions are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence and automation to streamline operations, improve risk assessment, and deliver faster services to customers.
A key differentiator of FOCUS is that it has been developed entirely by BankIslami’s internal technology and business teams. The bank stated that the homegrown platform eliminates dependence on external software vendors for licensing, customisation, and maintenance, resulting in long-term cost optimisation and greater control over system enhancements and future innovation.
Speaking on the occasion, BankIslami President and CEO Rizwan Ata emphasized the institution’s customer-centric approach to innovation. He noted that the launch aims to simplify the financing journey while making banking services more accessible, efficient, and responsive to customer needs.
“For us, FOCUS is more than a technology upgrade. It is a statement of what our people are capable of building when the mission is as noble as Saving Humanity from Riba,” Ata said.
The introduction of FOCUS strengthens BankIslami’s growing portfolio of digital initiatives aimed at modernising banking services while maintaining compliance with Islamic banking principles. The bank has continued investing in technology-driven solutions as part of its broader strategy to enhance operational excellence and support financial inclusion across Pakistan.
Industry observers view the launch as another indicator of the increasing role of artificial intelligence in Pakistan’s financial sector. As banks continue investing in digital infrastructure and intelligent automation, platforms such as FOCUS are expected to improve efficiency, reduce processing bottlenecks, and contribute to the evolution of a more digitally enabled banking ecosystem.
