Pakistan and Saudi Arabia discuss tech talent cooperation in technology and investment during a meeting between Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim at the AlUla Conference 2026 for Emerging Market Economies.
The two sides reviewed progress on Saudi investments in Pakistan and broader economic cooperation. The Saudi minister praised the quality of Pakistan’s artificial intelligence and technology talent, saying the country ranks among the top one or two globally. He said Saudi Arabia is interested in using Pakistani tech professionals to support its ongoing technological transformation.
He also referred to comments by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who has acknowledged the strength and potential of Pakistani technology professionals.
Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb said Pakistan is planning to build a structured pipeline of skilled human resources for key international markets, including Saudi Arabia. He noted that this approach could create economic benefits for both countries.
The Saudi minister also mentioned progress on the GCC Free Trade Agreement and stressed the need to increase trade and exchanges with Pakistan. The finance minister said dedicated teams are working to finalize Saudi investment commitments.
He also thanked the Saudi government for hosting the conference and for its continued support for Pakistan’s economy.
