Attock Refinery Limited (ARL) has partnered with Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) to enhance industry-academia collaboration and provide actual opportunities to the students.
The collaboration was solidified on September 18, 2025, at ARL’s Morgah office when ARL CEO, M. Adil Khattak, and GIKI Rector, Dr. Fazal Khalid, SI, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This partnership paves the way for collaborative research projects, competency-based workshops, faculty placements, and internship programs to fill the gap between theoretical knowledge at the academic level and industry requirements. Addressing the event, Mr. Khattak said the program would help provide students with practical experience and professional development opportunities. Dr. Khalid, however, pointed out that academia has to play a central role in countering the changing needs of industry through innovation and research.
The event ended with ARL gifting a souvenir to Dr. Khalid, signifying the start of a fruitful partnership. The two institutions committed to translating this MoU into opportunities, with the common goal of enabling students and professionals to make meaningful contributions to Pakistan’s industrial and technology advancement.
