HBL, in association with Mastercard, has introduced its Business Debit Card specifically modified for SMEs, entrepreneurs, and self employed individuals. The card is available in two forms one is Classic, and the other is World Business Debit Card, marking progress of HBL’s efforts to enable businesses and lead Pakistan towards a cashless economy.
With more than 5 million SMEs generating 40% of GDP and providing employment to almost a third of the population, this industry is essential for economic development. HBL is already a innovator in financing SMEs, as the first bank to reach PKR 100 billion in SME lending and introducing non-collateralized lending. The new debit card extends that support further by enabling SMEs to enjoy a secure, hassle free and convenient means of performing daily transactions.
The inauguration event took place on 27th August 2025, at HBL Tower Karachi and was attended by senior executives of HBL and Mastercard. During the event, HBL and Mastercard executives reaffirmed their common vision of financial inclusion, digitization, and empowerment of SMEs.
HBL has been connected with Mastercard since 2013, and this recent initiative shows their commitment to strengthening business and supporting Pakistan’s progress towards digitalization.
