ran and Pakistan have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to boost cooperation in science and technology. The agreement was finalized during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s two-day visit to Pakistan on August 2. The focus is on advancing collaboration in areas such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, advanced materials, energy, renewable energy, electronics, medical equipment, and pharmaceuticals. Both countries will also work together to establish science and technology parks, start-ups, and innovation hubs to support research and entrepreneurship.
The MOU includes joint efforts to share knowledge between high-tech companies, conduct market research, and provide market access for advanced products in both nations. This marks a stronger step in building long-term scientific and economic ties.
Earlier this year, Pakistan and Iran had already discussed enhancing collaboration through universities and academic exchanges. Now, with this formal MOU, the partnership moves beyond education into applied technology, innovation acceleration centers, and venture capital support.
Both governments believe these efforts will help tackle common challenges, promote sustainable growth, and expand regional cooperation. In other words, this is not just about science labs, it’s about building opportunities for researchers, entrepreneurs, and industries on both sides of the border.
