Government of Pakistan is starting a new AI training program for university teachers to help them learn more about artificial intelligence and get ready for the future. This program is being done with help from Meta, Higher Education Commission, and National Computing Education Accreditation Council – NCEAC, and was discussed in a meeting led by the Federal Minister for IT, Shaza Khawaja.

The training is split into two parts. One is for non-technical teachers to learn soft skills related to AI. The other is for tech teachers to get certified in hard skills using online platforms like Coursera. This includes training on Meta’s AI tools like LLaMA. The goal is to teach over 1,000 non-tech teachers and up to 500 tech teachers across Pakistan.

The Minister said that AI is not just for tech, but will also help in education, health, farming, and government work. She promised full support from the Ministry and said this program will also connect with the upcoming National AI Policy and other digital training plans.

She also suggested adding student AI programs, making content in Urdu and other local languages, and teaching AI ethics and safety. This effort will help build a smarter, AI-ready workforce and give teachers the tools they need for the digital future
